DURANGO ARTS CENTER
ANNOUNCES MAIN AVENUE ARTS FESTIVAL

DESIGN COMPETITION WINNER

The Durango Arts Center announces the selection of a pastel painting created by artist Alice Flitter as the official design to represent the 2004 Main Avenue Arts Festival. Flitter’s design, a landscape with a sky filled with clouds formed into icons representing specific aspects of the festival: a teapot, artist’s palette, top hat, musical notes, sunglasses, and a plate, knife, and fork, will be reproduced on festival tee shirts, posters, and in print advertising promoting this year’s Main Avenue Arts Festival. Three community members acted as the selection committee and chose Flitter’s design from ten designs submitted by area artists and designers in this first-ever Main Avenue Arts Festival design contest.

Flitter, a resident of Farmington , New Mexico , earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in commercial art as well as a Master of Arts degree in religion and philosophy. She has designed numerous posters and has won awards in regional exhibits and national competitions.
