2004 Main Avenue Arts Festival images compliments of Claude Steelman

This Summer´s 15th Annual Durango Arts Festival is just around the corner, and plans for the DAC´s main fundraising event are entering high gear.

In a continuing effort to increase the success of the Arts Festival and make the Durango Arts Center (DAC) the center of the festival, the DAC board and staff have decided to relocate the Festival, from Main Avenue to 2nd Avenue.

The idea is consistent with recent DAC moves to raise awareness of the Center as the leader in promoting the area´s creative arts culture. The move from Main Avenue brings event vitality and foot traffic to 2nd Avenue. We have always felt 2nd Avenue was under utilized. This is a first class, well-established event, and one that fits well with the 2nd Avenue business clientele. We are glad to be bringing the event to the Center, instead of trying to move the Center to the event.

The festival staff & volunteers, are excitedly working to develop new festival souvenirs including tee-shirts and posters. The festival once again presents great quality fine crafts and art from artisans and artists nation-wide as well as presenting eclectic local and regional performers on the Main Stage. The Food Court offers delicious food and micro brew beer by local purveyors, and the Creation Station art activities for kids are presented by DAC KIDS the education program at the Durango Arts Center, The entertainment and activities are all free for the community´s enjoyment.
