Bank of the San Juans has stepped forward to make a significant investment over three years to strengthen the Durango Arts Centers Docent program. In doing so they are an early-adopter of the DACs new Partner in the Arts program where local businesses and individuals identify a DAC program that resonates with their values and supports it over a period of years. Bank of the San Juans has identified small business, the environment, and issues affecting women as primary areas interest to support in this community. However, we also felt strongly that providing arts education to local children helps to develop a generation of community members who not only value arts and culture but the quality of life where they live. These goals support our interests. Through this investment we hope to improve the lives of students and the impact that they have on their communities in the future, said Art Chase, President of Bank of the San Juans.

| The Kindred Spirits programs are a lively and vital part of the DAC. Each year the students have a collaborative performing arts show with the APPLAUSE students.
At least one adult participant is now learning to speak, inspired after being "on stage" with our own Elvis impersonator.
We have countless studies that show how important the arts are to development of every individual. Speech and other skills are gained and enhanced. The personal expression of individuals who have a contribution to make regarding our understanding of life experience through unique eyes is priceless. Promoting this can not be undervalued.
Each year the participants are achieving real goals to show work in the Main Avenue Arts Festival. This activity has led several of the students to move on to showing work in other venues and becoming more independent in persuing their art.
